Key Responsibilities

As goals were scored or line-up changes occurred, I swiftly edited the graphics to reflect these updates.

I used the templates to modify key details, such as the goal scorers and the corresponding minute, ensuring that our social media channels were promptly updated.

While announcing the scorers over the tannoy system, I was able to provide immediate visual updates, creating a seamless flow of information for the audience.

Content Development

Over the course of the first few matches, I refined my approach to real-time content creation.

Initially focused on updating graphics, I quickly recognised the value of complementing these visuals with video highlights.

Whenever possible, I captured key moments of the game—such as goals and player celebrations—using various camera angles to enhance our storytelling.

This allowed me to produce more engaging content that resonated with fans, as they could see the action unfold in real-time alongside the graphic updates.

Audience Engagement

My time at West Riding FA emphasized the critical importance of engaging with our audience in real-time. I quickly learned that simply broadcasting updates wasn’t enough; the real value lay in fostering a two-way conversation with fans.

During matches, I made it a priority to respond to comments and retweets, acknowledging fans’ thoughts and reactions to the unfolding action. This helped create a sense of community and connection around the matches, turning passive viewers into active participants.

I also realized that the tone of my posts needed to reflect the energy of the match and the sentiments of our supporters. For instance, if the team scored an important goal, I used enthusiastic language and engaging visuals to amplify the excitement.

Conversely, if the team faced a setback, I crafted messages that were supportive and encouraging, reinforcing the club’s values of resilience and teamwork.

This real-time engagement not only enhanced the experience for our followers but also provided valuable insights into fan preferences and sentiments. By paying attention to how fans reacted to different types of posts, I was able to refine my approach, tailoring future content to better align with what resonated most with our audience.

Overall, this experience deepened my understanding of the need for timely, relevant, and empathetic communication in sports social media, making audience engagement a key pillar of my social media strategy.
